Softswitch Routes and Pricing
The dedicated softswitch uses a routing system based on pricing tables (rate tables) and priority rules. Understanding this system lets you optimize your costs and call quality.
Key routing concepts
- Rate Table: Pricing table associating destination prefixes with rates and routes
- Route: Combination of an upstream provider + parameters (priority, capacity, quality)
- LCR (Least Cost Routing): Automatic routing to the cheapest route for a destination
- Prefix: International prefix (e.g., 44 for United Kingdom, 1 for USA/Canada)
Viewing your rates from the client area
- WebTic client area → Trunk Service → Rates tab
- Search by prefix or country name
- View: rate/minute, rounding, minimum billing delay
- Export the full rate table as CSV
Typical rate structure
| Destination | Prefix | Rate/min | Rounding | Min. billable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metropolitan France | 33 | €0.0120 | 60s | 60s |
| France mobile | 336, 337 | €0.0650 | 60s | 60s |
| United Kingdom landline | 441, 442 | €0.0090 | 60s | 60s |
| USA/Canada | 1 | €0.0085 | 60s | 60s |
| Morocco mobile | 2126 | €0.2100 | 60s | 60s |
How billing works
Example with 60s rounding:
- A 45-second call → billed 60 seconds
- A 75-second call → billed 120 seconds
- A 0-second call (unanswered) → not billed
Cost optimization
- Analyze expensive destinations via the CDR report filtered by descending cost
- Use local DID numbers for frequent destinations (avoids mobile fees)
- Set up balance alerts to avoid cutoffs (client area → Notifications)
- Enable auto top-up with a configurable threshold
Balance alerts and monitoring
In your WebTic client area → Payments tab:
- Current balance in real time
- Top-up history
- Email alert configuration (e.g., alert if balance < €10)
- Auto top-up by bank card or bank transfer
