eSIM: what it is and how to activate it Print

  • 0

eSIM in brief

An eSIM is a SIM card built directly into your phone. There is nothing to insert: you scan a QR code and the line is added to your device. Your regular SIM stays in place and keeps receiving your calls — the eSIM is used for data only.

In practice, you can travel abroad without going through a local shop and without paying your carrier's roaming fees.

Activate your eSIM in 4 steps

  1. Order your plan from your WebTic customer area.
  2. Receive the QR code by email, with a direct installation link.
  3. Scan the QR code from your phone's settings (section "Add Cellular Plan" / "Add eSIM").
  4. Turn on data on the eSIM line when you arrive. The process is quick.

Tip: install your eSIM before you leave, while you have wifi. Installation requires an Internet connection; activation, on the other hand, takes place on arrival.

  • 5G where the local network offers it, 4G everywhere else.
