Check compatibility
The vast majority of phones sold since 2019 support eSIM. Two conditions must be met: the device must support eSIM, and it must not be locked to a carrier (SIM lock).
The quickest test
On most phones, dial *#06#: if an EID number is displayed in addition to the IMEI, your device supports eSIM.
Where to look in the settings
| System | Path in the settings |
|---|---|
| iPhone | Settings → Cellular Data → Add Cellular Plan |
| Android | Settings → Connections / Network → SIM Cards → Add eSIM |
If the option exists, you can use a WebTic eSIM.
Special cases
- Carrier-locked phone: the eSIM will be rejected. Ask your carrier to unlock it; this is free after a certain subscription period.
- Second-hand device: an eSIM already installed by the previous owner may occupy the slot. Delete it before adding a new one.
