OTP numbers: how they work and use cases Print

What is an OTP number

An OTP (One-Time Password) is the single-use code that an application sends by SMS to verify a phone number, for example when opening a WhatsApp, Telegram, Gmail or Instagram account.

A WebTic OTP number is a real phone number, in the country of your choice, used to receive this code. It is not an SMS sending service.

How it works

  1. You choose the country, then the application you are expecting the code from.
  2. A real number from that country is assigned to you: you enter it in the application.
  3. As soon as the SMS arrives on the number, the code is passed on to you.

Two plans

  • One number for one code: the number is reserved for the time needed to receive the code from a specific application.
  • A number for a set duration: the number is reserved for you for 1 to 30 days depending on the country and receives SMS throughout the period.

When to use it

  • Open an account on an application that requires a number from a specific country.
  • Keep a number separate from your personal or business line.
  • Receive repeated verifications on the same number (duration plan).
