Identity verification for DID numbers
Some countries require regulatory identity verification before a local phone number is assigned. This requirement is imposed by national telecommunications regulators (ARCEP in France, OFCOM in Switzerland, etc.).
Why is this verification necessary?
International regulations require every telephone operator to identify the end user of the numbers it assigns. This KYC (Know Your Customer) process aims to prevent fraud, telephone spam and abuse of the infrastructure.
