Staying in control of the allowance
With pooled data, a single misconfigured device can use up the allowance of the entire fleet. Regular monitoring avoids a nasty surprise at the end of the month.
Useful habits
- Check usage per SIM, not just the total: it is the only way to spot the device that is drifting.
- Set a mid-month checkpoint: beyond half of the allowance used, there is still time to act.
- Compare with the previous month: a sudden increase with no change in usage almost always signals a technical incident.
Common causes of overuse
| Cause | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| Camera streaming continuously at high resolution | Switch to motion-triggered recording, lower the resolution |
| Automatic firmware updates | Schedule them or trigger them manually |
| Unfiltered cloud backup | Restrict to the data that is really needed |
| Reconnections in a loop | Insufficient signal: external antenna or repositioning |
| Equipment hijacked for tethering | Secure access to the device |
If you exceed your allowance
The service is not cut off: additional gigabytes are billed at the rate of your plan — €3/GB on Starter, €0.50/GB on Business. If overage becomes recurring, changing plan is almost always cheaper than paying for out-of-bundle usage.
Unexplained overage deserves a ticket rather than a simple plan adjustment: in a good number of cases, it is a faulty device, and the overuse will come back the following month.
